The walk to the little village of Héric simply follows the road (only vehicles of the inhabitants are allowed, so there is very little passage, do not worry).
Count 5km (3.1miles) and 315m of positive height difference.
It takes about 1h30 walking normally, 2 hours including the necessary breaks for observations.
Come back from the same path (about 3 hours round trip).

This walk is ideal for families and is accessible with pushchairs.
It is one of the most appreciated walks in the Hérault to enjoy a picnic sitting on the rocks with the sound of water.

Did you know?

Early in the morning or at dusk, you may have the chance to observe mouflons, which are numerous in the Caroux. The Corsican mouflon was introduced here in 1956 and has acclimatised very well in this southern mid-mountain area. It now has the largest population in France.

Numerous hikes are possible from the site, including the "Sentier des Gardes". Accessible from the footbridge of the Soupirs (on the right at the beginning of the gorges), it allows you to reach the orientation table of the Caroux in 2h30 (Attention: important difference in height: 800m D+). Don't leave without a detailed map.

The Caroux massif also has many climbing rocks, from "school" sites to "adventure" sites, including equipped routes. Find descriptions, levels of difficulty and detailed sketches on the climbing topos (on sale at the Tourist Office reception points or directly on our online shop).
