Departure : Former train station of Lamalou les Bains
A wonderful journey ahead! The departure allows you to stroll through the streets of Lamalou les Bains. The warm-up is quick, you take the direction of the Croix des Baussels and the Hameau de Torteillan. It's rolling and pleasant. A last steep climb and the village of Combes is reached. The exit of the village is done by a caladé path. At hill 630, the slope becomes gentler and you enter the Ecrivains Combattants forest. The exit from the woods is often windy and the view over Madale is magnificent. Once you have passed the small road to Madale, the path crosses over in the direction of the Col des Avels car park. At the pass, you enter the Caroux. The Moulin de la Fage and its refuge make you forget that you are in Hérault! There is still 300m of positive difference in altitude to reach the plateau.
The Caroux plateau and its landscape of moors and peat bogs allow you to reach the hamlet of Douch. You then descend to the hamlet of Héric, then to the Col du Bardou, along a more technical and wild trail before reaching the village of Mons. It is a very beautiful crossing, which you can organise with the valley buses or with the support of the Sports and Nature shop in Lamalou-les-Bains.
