BOISSET

A village nestled at the confluence of the streams of Faillières and Maussac and surrounded by mountains.

The ancient origin of Boisset is attested above all by the presence of the ruins of Castellas, which was one of the links, in the Middle Ages, in the defence system of the city of Minerve.
Today, it is a discreet village, nestling at the confluence of the streams of Faillières and Maussac and surrounded by mountains. Away from the village, on the main road leading to Rieussec, stands the Saint-Michel chapel, built in the 17th century. This peaceful place is worth the time of a break in the heart of a welcoming nature.

In the heart of a region known for its gamey qualities, fed by numerous streams, Boisset and its "countryside" seem to be surrounded by the forest...
Altitude: 400m
Hamlets and localities: Faveyrolles, Barailles, Bel Soleil, Campelou, Faillières, Ginestiès, Jalbert, Le Roc, Raissac and Value.

A little bit of history

The ruins of Castellas evoke a defensive site dating back to the High Middle Ages.
The church of Saint Michel was built around the 17th century, away from the village, on the remains of an older sanctuary. At that time it was a branch of the parish church of Vélieux.
In 1864, Boisset lost a small part of its territory, the Domaine de Value, which became part of the newly created commune of Verreries-de-Moussans.
The commune of Boisset, now depopulated, is an administrative anachronism. In the first half of the 19th century, Boisset had nearly 300 inhabitants.
