SAINT JULIEN
The commune owes its name to the Priory of Saint-Julien
Between Olargues and Mons-La-Trivalle, Saint-Julien is made up of 8 hamlets (Les Horts, Vilaris, les Castagnès, Mauroul, Auziale, Le Cros, les Sagnes, la Fabrègue Haute and la Fabrègue Basse) on the southern slope of the Espinouse massif. The commune owes its name to the Priory of Saint-Julien, whose church has been mentioned since the 9th century.
The Priory of Saint Julien has a Romanesque apse with polychrome Lombard decoration. It is known for its acoustic quality, making it the perfect venue for classical music concerts.
A sports path takes you up to the ruins of the castle of Olargues le Vieux "le Castellas":
Not to be missed when talking about Saint Julien: the charming hamlet of Mauroul!
